RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's Li Liqing won the women's judo -48kg title at the Rio Paralympics by defeating Germany's defending Carmen Brussig by ippon on Thursday.
Li, 23, shed tears of joy after securing her first Paralympic Games gold medal.
"It means so much to me," said Li, who has visual impairment. "I have been with my coach Zhang Guifu for seven years. He is like a father to me. That is why it was so emotional. He taught me everything. I owe this gold medal to him."
"[Today] was very exhausting. I thought I could win, I was confident, but the result was very close."
Brussig said: "It was a very hard competition, harder than the world championships, even harder than London 2012. It's fair to get the silver medal. It was a very tough match, but I'm happy with what I've got."?
BEIJING, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- German Angelique Kerber, who topped WTA world rankings, refused to put too much pressure on herself and hoped to enjoy the China Open which kicked off here on Saturday.
"I will not put more pressure on me. I mean, I will try to give my best here and enjoy this tournament," said Kerber.
Kerber experienced a magical year in 2016 as she claimed the titles of the Australian Open and US Open, becoming the new world No. 1 after Serena Williams of US. She attributed her consistency throughout the year to just trying her best in every match.
"I'm trying to go to each tournament thinking match by match, not thinking too much about what's happening around, just playing my best, practicing good during the tournaments and having good recovery," she said, adding that she did not keep maintaining her top position until the WTA Final in mind either.
"I'm not thinking about this yet. I'm here to play every single match, to go out and win matches. Then we will see if I can be still the No. 1 at the end," commented Kerber.
Kerber said that she has been used to dealing with pressure from her victory at the Australian Open early this year.
"It started actually at the beginning of the year after the Australian Open, where I had to learn to get used to all the stuff around me. I had to learn to say no because this is really important at the end to take care of yourself.
"Now I'm on a good way to deal with all this stuff because there are a lot of months now. It started actually in January. I'm really happy how I'm doing this. You have to learn a lot of things during this process," said Kerber, who has never been into the tournament's semifinals in her last six attempts.

BOOK-SHARING SERVICES
Liu Yaqian, 29, works for a multinational company and describes herself as a "bookworm." She has borrowed around a hundred books from libraries in Beijing since 2011.
In March last year, she found a 24-hour automated library near her office that holds about 400 books. "It's as convenient as an ATM! I no longer have to make the trek to the traditional libraries that are often out of the way cheap nike air max 2019 free shipping ," she said. In the past year, Liu has borrowed more than a book per week from the 24-hour book dispenser.
The 24-hour library program is an innovation by the Capital Library of China and district libraries under the guidance of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture. They have been seen on the streets of Beijing since 2010. There are 174 street libraries, each about the size of a street-side food stand dotting both downtown Beijing and its outskirts.
Readers need to apply for a membership card before borrowing books, which are dispensed in much the same way as the soft drinks and snacks from the vending machines often found in train stations and airports. Books can be returned to any of these libraries.
"The 24-hour street libraries break the boundaries of traditional libraries cheap nike air max 2019 sale , extending the tentacles of book-sharing to as many communities and streets as possible," said the mastermind behind the program.
